1°/ How far in advance should I make an appointment?

For a weekday session, day or evening, 15 days in advance may be sufficient.

On the other hand, for weekend slots, it is preferable to make the appointment a month in advance.

Of course, you can always contact us at +33(0)5 53 03 25 06 for an urgent session, as slots sometimes become available but this is not guaranteed.

2°/ How does a reservation work?

Once your needs have been defined, you will receive a quote from us. If it suits you and includes everything necessary for your session, you must accept it. Once accepted, the scheduled days are pre-booked in our scheduling calendar. We will then send you a purchase order or contract if you are involved in the production, as well as a deposit request. These must be signed and paid for your session to be fully booked. Once this step is reached, your booking is finalized in our scheduling calendar.

3°/ How many hours of studio time are needed to record a song?

There is no rule. It all depends on your preferences and requirements. Some people can record in 30 minutes and spend hours mixing, while others will take longer to record and not bother with mixing or mastering... From experience, we know that it takes at least one day per track to ensure the recording quality of the track. The same goes for mixing or for an album, one day per track is a good basis for working on a convincing result.

4°/ How long does it take to make an LP?

Depending on your preparation in advance, the recording will go more or less quickly. Depending on the number of musicians and tracks, you need at least one day per track to have a quality sound recording but you also have to take into account the complexity of the pieces. After the recording, we leave a few days of transition before starting the mixing. One day per track is necessary for the mixing. The sound engineer can start editing and flattening the sessions the first few days without you, after your presence is necessary to guide the atmosphere you want for your album. Once the mixing is finished you have to wait, let your ears rest, take a step back then listen again and after any final corrections you validate the mix and we finish with the mastering. After once the master is available comes the graphics and administrative procedures (Sdrm) then the printing of the CDs and the promotion of the project.

5°/ Is there necessarily a sound engineer during my session?

Absolutely, you'll never work alone. We collaborate with several engineers, each specialized in their field and style of music, to best meet your requirements. If you use our studios with your own sound engineer, our engineer becomes their assistant, saving you time on cabling, for example, or any other task that will make your session efficient and stress-free.

6°/ Can we smoke in the studios?

In accordance with the Evin law and for obvious safety reasons, smoking is prohibited in our studios. We are located on the ground floor, so you'll only have to take one step to smoke outside. Likewise, eating or drinking is not permitted in the studio. Sphere Studio provides a kitchenette for your relaxation.

7 / Are there any time constraints?

The studio is available to you on a "lockout" basis for 24-hour periods, so you alone manage your own time. If you prefer to work in the morning or record the vocals at the end of the day, simply ask. The sound engineer's flexibility is limited to only 9 hours of work, in order to maintain the quality of concentration and listening necessary for the success of your project.

8 / I need to take a break: what should I do?

Being in the studio requires a lot of energy. It is normal to have a drop in energy during the session.

To offer you a moment of relaxation that will allow you to unwind, we provide you with an outdoor swimming pool, a ping-pong table, a badminton set, or you have the opportunity to walk in the surrounding woods.

The nearest town is Le Bugue located 11km from the studio where you will find all the useful shops.

9°/ Do you have Wi-Fi access?

Of course! We have an open, unsecured hotspot that covers the entire studio. All you have to do is log in...

10°/ What about the promotion?

Depending on what is planned and desired for the project and in the case where we are involved in the production, we of course ensure the promotion of our projects. The latter can take several forms such as for example the launch of a professional website, the filming of a clip, the assignment of a press officer for different media,...

Generally, the entire promotion is budgeted at the beginning of the project and according to the objectives of the artist and sales for the producer(s).

11°/ How to find concert dates?

We do not intend to replace promoters, but of course we organize promotional concerts or showcases with our artists whenever the opportunity arises. We are also regularly asked to present artists at various events and to organize concerts linked to local or regional requests in relation to our partners.

Moreover, our promotion also aims to find a promoter for our artists because this is where they meet their audience and sell their products directly.

12°/ Can you help me with the administrative side (SACEM, copyright, contracts)?

Of course! We are used to working with Sacem, SDRM and Sabam and can help you complete your files or requests of all kinds.

We can also give you valuable advice in managing your copyright or in accepting contracts even outside of production when, for example, you are asked to participate in a concert or a showcase.

13°/ How to create the cover design?

Some of our artists know graphic designers who have worked with them for a long time, others don't

Whatever the case, we assist or supply graphic designers in order to produce all the media dedicated to the physical production of your CDs or more broadly to any promotional tool (poster, flyer, folder, press kit, etc.).

14°/ Once the CD/Vinyl is available, can I have some and sell some?

Of course! 5 CDs/Vinyls are always given to the artist or more if the latter needs them (at cost price in this case). We also take care of giving the participants a copy to thank them for the work accomplished (engineers, graphic designers, musicians).

Our CDs are physically distributed on the shelves of the main stores in France and Belgium, and can be ordered online and delivered worldwide. On the digital side (download or streaming) our catalog is present on more than 110 barriers worldwide (240 countries) including Itunes, AMazon, Fnac, Deezer, Spotify,...

In addition, we ensure that for each concert, our artists have CDs/Vinyls and any other product to sell and sign.

15°/ I get sick and my session is already booked?

In this case, we will do everything we can to reschedule the session at your convenience. You won't lose anything; the deposit you paid will remain valid for the new session at no additional cost.

16°/ °/ One of my musicians is not ready/has an impediment, should I cancel my session?

It all depends on your choice and the feasibility of postponing the session. If the session must be postponed, we will do our best to do so at your convenience. If you cannot postpone the session due to time constraints or other reasons, we can connect you with professional musicians accustomed to working in the studio who will ensure the smooth running of your project.

17°/ Where are your studios located?

In the southwest of France, in the Dordogne, in the heart of the Périgord Noir. You will find access maps available on our website.

By car: via the A89, take the Relais du Manoire exit at km 125 in Périgueux, follow the road to Les Eyzies/Le Bugue for 35km. Pass the villages of Les Versannes then La Douze, then follow the direction of Le Bugue. At the crossroads (signalled by a flashing orange light) of the Jacquou Parc animal park and a DIY store 'Périgord Noir' which are on your right, turn left towards Rouffignac/Mauzens. Drive for about 3km then you will see on the left a house with a green metal staircase outside, turn right 150m after this house. At the next crossroads follow the Miliade guest house (on the left). Then, always straight ahead, pass in front of the Miliade, follow the road in the forest, take the small road on the right indicated by the sign "Miossac" and called "Impasse des Musiciens", follow the path for 300 meters and turn left continue to the end of the path: you have arrived!

By train: the 3 closest stations are Les Eyzies de Tayac station, Le Buisson de Cadoin station and Perigueux station.

By plane, between March and October there are low-cost flights that land at Bergerac airport (40km away) and all year round flights to Bordeaux airport (180km away).

If you are not driving, we will take care of your transfer from the various arrival points to the studio and also manage transfers to the chosen accommodation locations.

18°/ °/ would like to have specific equipment that is not available in the studio?

In most cases, we are able to rent, for example, a guitar amp or a guitar or any instrument that would be necessary and useful for a session. Simply specify your needs when establishing our offer in order to calculate this rental and ensure the availability of the equipment during the session.

19°/ Is it possible to eat at the Studio?

Of course! If you wish, you can eat on site for lunch and/or dinner.

We offer 3 types of meals (basic, standard and VIP). Table service is provided. The advantage of eating on site is that meal times follow your availability. It's not a problem to shift meal times to stay in the energy and avoid losing the 'magic moment' of a sound recording.

Otherwise, you will find something to eat 9km away, in Le Bugue, which is the closest town to the studio. You will have to pay attention to the fairly strict opening hours of local restaurants.

20°/ I have to follow a special diet, what should I do?

All you need to do is tell us about any dietary requirements and we will serve you menus tailored to your needs.

21°/ Is it possible to stay at the Studio?

Our structure does not provide on-site accommodation for musicians. We aim to offer accommodation solutions that fit everyone's budgets and needs, which is not possible in a fully residential studio.

However, we will help you and provide you with all the useful information about what is available in the surrounding area. Depending on your budget, you will have access to guest rooms, charming cottages, prestigious cottages, hotels, house rentals, etc. If you wish, we can manage the reservation for you.
